In Memory of Rogers A. Severson - 1939 to 2012 - Co Founder of Saddleback Associates

Rogers Severson lost his battle to cancer on March 12, 2012.  In honor of Rogers, we have left his profile in tact.  He was a key part of the formation and successes of Saddleback Associates throughout his years.  He touched so many who had the privilege to work with him and he remains closely in the hearts of all of us here at Saddleback.  In memory of Rogers A Severson.....

Rogers started his career in commercial real estate In 1969 when he was hired by Dunn Properties Corporation to assist the company in its nationwide development of Industrial Business Parks.  Mr. Severson was Executive VP in charge of all marketing and finance activities. In addition, he and Mr. Smith were responsible for all land acquisitions. Mr. Severson’s prior experience was as Chief Loan Officer at Belmont Savings and Loan in Long Beach. In 1974, he was promoted to Chairman of the Board of the company and assumed the co-management responsibilities with Mr. Smith for all company operations. During his employment at Dunn Properties, he and Mr. Smith constructed, leased and sold over 1,000 industrial buildings totaling over 13,000,000 square feet, resulting in over $100,000,000.00 in profits for the company.

In 1978, he left the company, and along with Mr. Smith, co-founded their own company, Saddleback Associates, Inc. They continued to develop industrial business parks and have constructed, leased and sold over 500 industrial buildings totaling over 4,500,000 square feet throughout California, Nevada and Arizona. With a background of over 40 years of industrial development experience, Mr Severson offers his expertise in the areas of finance, land / building acquisitions, and marketing.

 
Raymond C. Smith - Chairman of the Board and co-founder

Raymond Smith started his commercial real estate career in 1969 when he was hired by Dunn Properties Corporation to assist the company in its nationwide development of Industrial Business Parks.  Mr. Smith was Executive VP in charge of all construction activities. In addition, he and Mr. Severson were responsible for all land acquisitions. Mr. Smith’s prior experience was as a licensed General Contractor specializing in industrial property construction. In 1974, he was promoted to President of the company and assumed the co-management responsibilities with Mr. Severson for all company operations. During his employment at Dunn Properties, he and Mr. Severson constructed, leased and sold over 1,000 industrial buildings totaling over 13,000,000 square feet, resulting in over $100,000,000.00 in profits for the company.

In 1978, he left the company, and along with Mr. Severson, co-founded their own company, Saddleback Associates, Inc. They continued to develop industrial business parks and have constructed, leased and sold over 500 industrial buildings totaling over 4,500,000 square feet throughout California, Nevada and Arizona. Mr. Smith’s primary focus with Saddleback has continued to be in the construction and development aspect of the business. This includes site plan lay out, architectural design, and project planning. Mr Smith has also been very active in land and site acquisition throughout his tenure with Saddleback Associates.

 
Mark Severson - President

Mark joined Saddleback associates in 2006 after 6 years of selling commercial title and escrow services in the San Diego and Riverside markets. He started his title career in 2000 with Chicago Title Company, and in 2002 he moved to Land America Commercial Services. During his last year of 2005, Mark was awarded the #1 top producer for the San Diego / Inland Empire Region of Land America Commercial Services. During his years in the commercial title business, Mark worked closely with developers, brokers, and lenders and in order to get a basic understanding of the commercial real estate business.

Mark joined Saddleback as Vice President / Asset Manager of the real estate investment portfolio. In January of 2010 Mark was promoted to President. He is now running the day to day operations of the company, while continuing his role as asset manager of the real estate investment portfolio. Additionally, Mark is focusing his efforts to seek out value add / investment properties for acquisition.

 
Helen Alonso - Controller

Helen Joined Saddleback associates in 2000 bringing with her an extensive knowledge of accounting and general finance. In early 2010 Helen was promoted to Controller. Helen handles the accounting and finance for all aspects of saddleback associates and the real estate investment portfolio as well. Additionally, she is involved in coordinating all loans relative to development, acquisition, or the real estate investment portfolio.

 
Nerissa Nuqui - Executive Assistant

Nerissa has been with Saddleback since 2003 and has an extensive understanding of the overall operation. She works closely with Mark in the management of the real estate properties. She also assists Helen in her day to day book-keeping. Finally, Nerissa acts as an assistant to Rog, Ray, and Mark in their various day to day work related activities.
